I can't wait... but at least i know.

Quite disappointing it's taking this long due to it having all this Steam integration. :(
Agreed. I hope they added in a few new, useful features to the kit, such as an in-kit nif viewer.
Maybe they already said some of the thigns they included, I dunno.
I try not to read up on things until, they are ACTUALLY released.
I see why cursed might see that as a bad thing but try looking at it this way. Nexus just got the biggest wedgy ever thanks to Beth, so its advantage has been written off. Nexus does not offer anything but downloads, trolls and new ways to piss off its most loyal modders. Of which I used to be one.
You have openly stated you wanted a site focused on modders, downloads are a player thing, modders need other things and neither beth, nexus or steam offer what modders want. Where as I do, I spent 11 years specializing in this area and this is my territory. Beth may not have realized this but they just made my site the most important site in the community hehe :)
To bad I do not want that position, cannot afford it anyway, and certainly do not want the trolls that come with the position, but you can handle it.
Start by asking what modders want out of a site, not all modders own their own sites like I do, all modders gather around sites that offer them services they cannot get else where or do not want to pay for. I started at MGO that way, the planet sites started that way over 15 years ago. MGO offered me webspace, places to upload my files, lots of news about the games I was modding and more importantly, they told me of what cool new mods got released because everybody likes to see their mod in lights and players like good mod recommendations.
Plus they had help via their forums and lots more.
Darkone has no time for that, so either he makes time or Nexus dies.
You can become the most important site in the TES community be embracing this new spectacular change of leadership.
But your will find its a lot of work, every single day, including christmas but this is the fun side of the community.
I think Beth just made your job more enjoyable :)
Good post giskarduk. Would give +1 if forge had the feature to do so.
And, I think this place could really take off if given the chance, and this is quite a chance. Personally, as a "small time" modder, I find it extremely useful being able to communicate with other modders, and this place offers the ability to do so. Nexus, on the other hand, has so many people there that it is impossible to make an effective group with like-minded modders. Here, we can easily discuss modding, and there doesn't appear to be any kind of egotistical attitude, or anything bad coming from any other modders. On the Nexus, many modders are too stuck up to even acknowledge the "newer" modders, no matter how they may benefit the group. Here, I have yet to see even a tiny hint of arrogance from a modder, and that's a very welcoming thing. Later on, I'd like to work with some people in small groups as a tester and "tweaker". I'm not too great when it comes to doing large parts of projects, but I really excel when it comes to making those little tweaks that matter, such as: balancing, secrets, re-placement of items, etc.
On topic, once this kit is released, I'll be quickly making my Silver Ebony gear craftable, making my Dark Orc gear craftable (D.O. is on my todo list), as well as any other gear I make by that time. Can't wait to get modding :3
Very sad atm=( but good times soon.

Do not put your self down Truechaos, it is my experience good things come from people like you and if you turn out 30 good things in 3 months and I turn out 1 good thing in 3 months, whos to say your not a big time modder.
As for egos, they are great for promoting mods but have no place in modder to modder chat regardless of the experience level of the modders involved. When you see a modder showing too much ego in a modders chat, turn around, walk away and find somebody else to talk too. They are there for the wrong reasons and will spoil your fun.
And the fun in modding comes from modder to modder chats over how things are done and the sharing of ideas and tricks and appaulding each others successes and supporting our fellow modders when they fail.
I will tell his this, there is always some body out there better than you, the moment any modder forgets that, they set them selves up for a fall. A noob may know nothing upon arrival but quickly turn out to be a natural talent that just out does the best modders here without much effort. If you look down on him as he arrives, he will look down on you when he establishes his self.
But if your friendly to him upon arrival, he will be there for you later when his talent is recognised and you will have a friend not an enemy.
Ego maniacs fail to see this until its too later, ask anybody on Beths forums if any of the self confessed experts on that site can count me as a friend and the answer will be NO, they did the damage before they understood my true skills, too late for them. Like wise I have seen noobs rise at mechstorm to become better than me and I loved it. More mods I did not have to make and we did several projects together combining our skills to make some pretty cool stuff.
Nothing but good comes from respecting the noobs have found :)
PS I'll be here talking to my fellow modders come jan too for the same reason Chaos will be.
Gis, later down the road, I'd like to trial a collaboration. Since I'm actually a writer and roleplayer (written) in my main time when I don't have school, I think I could help you out with creating quest lines and the such. I could also probably do some voice acting, depending, as well as other things (simple texture tweaks, mod tweaks, testing). I'm really just an all-rounder. Give me a guide to do something, and I'll produce something solid for you if given a decent amount of time to do it. I just can't do complex things (yet), because I tend to screw up a little detail and can never find it xD
And, I agree with your post entirely. I never insult a modder's skill, because I know they very well may surpass me if they put the time in, and I expect the same from modders more experienced than me. It's good to see you're a person with your head screwed on your shoulders correctly, because it seems so rare to find people like you these days. Kudos.
I'd put some of my idea's out in a Collaboration :)

I get a lot offers mate but to be honest I work faster on my own than most teams work together, most people cannot keep up with me.
But there is no harm talking about it, most of my planning and design in done in public and those sort of details are hammered out at that point. By the time I actually make anything I know exactly how its going to turn out and how needs to do what, so it might work in practice.
The writing is usually not straight forward due to the limited sentences the editors accept, you typically only have so many characters and its rarely an exact figure, in oblivion it seemed to be measured in pixels or something because large letters used up more space and reduced the number of letters you could use for dialog, in fallout it was more or less exact.
Which did mate lines easier.
This talk has gone entirely off topic, haha.
I think it should either end for now, or be moved to a more relevant thread.
Will check your stuff, too, Schmidyk
