I personally dislike the Fast Travel System in Recent TOS games and really feel that this would be a very popular mod and make a lot of people happy if they could disable Fast Travel outside the game. Temptation to use it overtime would grow more and more as well. Must have it disabled. Once the game releases tonight I will check it out myself and see if I can do anything about it.
Heck there is even a FB Group:
I agree! I almost never use fast travel. I find it much more immersive to travel everywhere on horseback/foot.
I absolutely loathe fast travel. At least Morrowind had a transportation network that fit in with the game that didn't magically teleport you anywhere. That's no way to immerse yourself and see everything something like Skyrim has to offer.
I have mixed thoughts on this, but agree that it does add that "unrealistic" part to the game so will definitely look to avoid fast traveling. Having a mod to disable it would make it that much easier to avoid.

In my gameplay vision, such a feature would be an ultimate teleport spell, maybe requiring some components...
While I personally would never use it, it shouldn't be a difficult mod, nor should it be long at all before someone comes out with it.
Related, I personally think that Skyrim's fast travel is vastly superior to Oblivion's, much more realistically simulating passed time.
Fast traveling is good though for a few points that i can think of off hand, and im sure there's more out there.
1. Cant find your horse?, fast travel to where you are at.
2. Most often then not, if im out exploring my carry weight would be maxed, again. fast traveling makes it where i can go and sell my junk, and get back to the fun. " since i know that id get distracted trying to take my load to a vendor by a random dungeon.. "
One of my CUO addons for OBlivion disabled fast travel, its not as popular as you think. I like to talk most places too so I know how you feel.
So try this in the console
To disable it type...
To enable it type...
That is an oblivion command but I noticed several older command still work so that should too.
I think it might be worth compiling all these little console commands into a single mod, to save having to do it again in the event that a user has to reinstall the game for whatever reason (for example I reinstall windows every 6 - 12 months). Maybe once someone writes a new mod manager these could be included as extra options.
I am afraid I am not an expert on console commands, I know that one because I used it to test some features in some of my mods involving disabling fast travel as part of legion and merchant features.
But you can google this, there are sites with these commands listed for oblivion and most seem to work for Skyrim too.
