Which has more mass?

  •   31.3% - 1 kg bag of lead - 98
  •   68.7% - 1 kg bag of feathers - 215

The density argument that the bag of feathers contains more air and thus more mass would only really apply if it where phrased as "1 kg of feathers in a bag" and "1 kg of lead in a bag". However, the question states that both bags have a mass of 1 kg, the "of lead" and "of feathers" merely describe the contents of the bag as these are prepositional phrases.

I don't see a 'Neither, they have the same mass' option.

    What is this, 7th grade?

Rhaethe is correct. it specificly states a 1kg "bag of feathers" and a 1kg "bag of lead" the total mass of the sealed bags would include the mass of the material in the bag, the mass of any gasses in the bag, and the mass of the bag itself...

just because the bag of feathers would be less dense and have a larger volume then the bag of lead, that does not mean the bag of feathers has any more mass.

Unless placed in a vacuum, the bag of feathers would contain more air. The poll measures the bag, not just the feathers. The feather bag would contain more air than the lead bag, so it would have more mass.

You really should have added a third answer. But making fun of people is always funny, right? :)

If I remember my physics correctly, they both have the same mass, as kg is the measurement for mass. Weight and mass are different, as an apple with 1kg of mass would have the same mass anywhere it was placed, but a different weight if on the moon as opposed to say, earth.
