I don't think all you whiners understand. WowMatrix was stealing authors mods, not giving them credit, and a list of other assorted things that were not right and in some cases illegal.
I think this whole thing is ridiculous. What addons did they "steal"? I havent seen a single proof of this. Curse and Wowinterface are just pissed they arent recieving the ad revenue and dontations for the software design itself. And this whole thing is a push to get wowmatrix to bow out thier software code for it to be copied for a cross server platform. Curse updater sucks more cahones than a $2 hooker. The bandwith that was being used by wowmatrix was nil and far from being destructive to either business.

And this whole thing could of been resolved by instead of blocking them. Asking them to pay a partial fee to cover the bandwith. Which thier ad revenue and donations would have covered. You made something really easy into something really uneccisary and difficult for your members just because you were pissed about less than 1g of traffic a month. give me a f^&*()ing break.

I'm ofc gonna try the Curse Client but honestly... Last time I used it? It was crap. And now that I got it back, well... It found 13 of my 161 addons (this incl modules). That is just amazing! NOT! WoWMatrix found all but 5. Then I went to the unidentified addons. Okay, I found more. But come on! I have ShareMedia installed and the best match it finds is: HealBot Continued!?!? And my FuBarPlugin get best match as RolePlaying Help 2!?! Really, wtf is that? So I have now spend HOURS updating this. Yay! I can understand that authors want their work to be recognized and get donations. No problem in that what so ever. But this was probably the worst solution for the users. I have never minded to donate. But for having to spend hours cleaning up this stuff then I don't feel like it. This runined my Saturday morning. This new Curse Client better be a good one!!

    Just my 2 cent

The reason alot of people even myself loved about wowmatrix was the fact it found the latest updates, it installed them then you went right back to playing no matter if you had 5 addons to 100 ...exadurating for most. I hear curse has that ability now but I will never go back to curse because of all the viruses I recieved from downloading addons from there. So thats why I loved wowmatrix. Most players didnt know they were not giving credit to authors or what not for there addons. I know I did not!

Gridgendal, I don't know what WoWmatrix version you were using, but the one I using before the whole ordeal showed the author's name, gave a link to the source of the download (be it curse or WoWinterface) and it even had a donate button the author could add.

The only bad thing WoWmatrix did was steal bandwidth as well as linking to addons whose authors didn't want listed.

I don't think all you whiners understand. WowMatrix was stealing authors mods, not giving them credit, and a list of other assorted things that were not right and in some cases illegal. WowMatrix needed to die and good riddance. I agree there needs to be a cross site addon manager, but as a mod author I don't want my hard work stolen by some low lifes that are just trying to make a buck and screw everyone else in the process. Read Kaelten's post about it in the news. This is a step in the right direction. I'm sorry some people are inconvenienced by it. But it was a necessary evil.

Cedon: probably not. You probably managed to get one of a handful of addons they started hosting themselves. & Adminstrator

That topic reminds me a bit of music industry vs. mp3. There clearly is a demand. Why can't any of the involved parties work together in a constructive manner?
