Skyrim Shadows and FPS Fix

Main

r2

A solution to the major frame rate loss caused by the shadows being rendered via our computer processors.

-This will increase your frame rate
-This will sharpen your shadows.
-This will also remove all striping.

Install by replacing your original '.ini' files, or replacing the code already there,
if the code is not already there then you must add it under the correct category.
1. The 'My Games' folder's contents go into the 'Skyrim' folder in your 'Documents.'
2. The 'Program Files' folder's contents go into the 'Skyrim' folder within your
'Skyrim' folder inside 'Program Files.'
Remember to make back-up copies of your '.ini' files before making changes, just in case.

Shadow setting will appear as 'Medium' within the settings, however you will see better quality than you would
if the settings were on the vanilla 'Ultra' settings, this is normal, do not worry about it. This is due to
in-game parameters, which would not be worth changing, as it does not affect the shadow quality.

Instructions:
1. Make sure to leave the files as 'read only,' within their respective 'properties.' Modifications can be
made by removing the 'read-only' attribute, and then setting it to 'read-only' afterwards. Otherwise the
game will change these settings, and the fix will no longer work.
2. If you experience any problems, you may need to change the name for the graphics card, to the name of your
graphics card within the '.ini' settings if you are using the '.ini' files.
3. In the settings options in Skyrim the shadows will be on 'Medium,' this is normal. The changes will be in
effect so long as you either changed them yourself, or used the '.ini' files. The shadow quality will be better
than the vanilla 'Ultra' setting in-game, yet display 'Medium' in the configurations if done correctly. Make sure
to have the '.ini' files set to 'read-only,' as to prevent changes caused by playing.

  • All settings in the '.ini' files are on maximum with only the shadow values modified.
    • Shadows only modification instructions are included.
